When properly equipped, the Silverado 2500 has a maximum trailering capacity of 18,510 pounds. That number increases to 36,000 pounds if you get the Silverado 3500 HD. Both Silverado HD models have the 6.6-litre V8 gasoline engine as their standard powertrain, providing the pickup truck with 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. Upgrading to the 6.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine increases output to 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. Depending on the engine choice, you will have either a six-speed automatic or a ten-speed Allison transmission. Rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive drivetrain configurations are available for both models; however, only the 3500 gets the option for dual rear wheels.
